The White House, Washington DC

Home of the US President, the White House was designed by James Hoban in the early part of the 19th century. Washington is a planned city, being the brainchild of Pierre L'Enfant. Other landmarks, including the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial, are arranged around the 2 mile long mall - a grassed area which forms the centre of the city.
